Two large local chamber choirs perform between
October and May at various venues.
Their fi nal concert of the 2007/08 season
is Songs of Spring (May 3, Windermere on
the Mount, 7:30 p.m.). Call for info. on their
2008/09 season that includes an annual
Messiah in December.

Originally conceived as a single concert
to raise funds for an addition, this project
has grown into an annual series of three
concerts. Past guest artists have included
Juno Award winners Andrew Downing, Kevin
Turcotte, Oliver Whitehead, and London’ s
First Lady of Jazz, Denise Pelley. Opening the
2008/09 season will be trumpeter Paul Stevenson
(October 24). All concerts begin at 8

Founded in 1993 by director Karen Ann
Schuessler to explore the wealth of choral
music, the choir is one of London’s premier
concert choirs. Each season features music
that will appeal to all ages and musical
tastes with repertoire ranging from the
classics to jazz to Broadway and from
Medieval to the 21st century. The 2007/08
season concludes with BlueNote (May 31)
featuring cool jazz with Denise Pelley. The
2008/09 concert season will include a
3-concert subscription series, a children’s
concert and a special performance of the
choir’s acclaimed concert Road to Freedom.

Orchestra has presented a series

Offering monthly live jazz concerts between
Oct. and June, at 2 p.m. featuring regional
and international musicians, as well as trips
to area jazz festivals. Upcoming concerts
include The Fig Leaf Dixieland Jazz Band
(May 4) and The Hot Five Jazzmakers (June
1). The 2008/09 season begins with an
opening concert (Oct. 5), followed by the
Peter Appleyard Quartet (Nov. 9). Call for

London Pro Musica is London’s oldest unaffi
liated concert choir. Under the direction of
Ken Fleet, LPM performs an extensive range
of classical music - from the medieval to
the contemporary - and actively supports
Canadian composers/musicians. LPM’s
39th season (2008/09) includes 3 concerts
The season opens with Brassroots, an
11-piece professional brass ensemble (late
Nov.), followed by a concert to celebrate
Black History Month featuring Denise Pelley
and Steve Holowitz (in Feb. 2009) and Oh To
Be in England, which will explore the great
English choral tradition from Byrd to Britten
as well as celebrate the music of Gilbert
and Sullivan.

University of Western Ontario
The Don Wright Faculty of Music at The University
of Western Ontario presents a series
of concerts performed by students, faculty
and internationally renowned guest artists
from Sept. through April. The concerts range
from symphonic and chamber music to solo
recitals, from the Baroque to 20th century,
from jazz to fully-staged opera, choral and
band music. Some concerts are at 12:30
p.m., others in the evening or Sunday
afternoons, and most are free!

the Discovery Series presents 20th-century
chamber works in intimate surroundings
(Nov. 5, Jan. 7, 2009, April 15). Orchestra
London also offers the Serenade Brunch

fully-staged opera each spring at the Grand
